Clear Conscience Jewelry

bullet

Working individually and as part of an industry-wide movement, Lori Bonn Design, Inc. is committed to making its jewelry as socially and environmentally responsible as possible. Our Clear Conscience Jewelry project is being developed in partnership with the Madison Dialogue, an industry group comprised of mining, manufacturing, design, and retail companies that's working to set the standard for fair trade and ethical jewelry.

Ethical Manufacturing

Our jewelry is manufactured in a healthy environment free of abuse and discrimination. Employees receive a living wage and benefits such as health care, life insurance, paid time off, and pension contributions. Managers — frequently women — are promoted from within. And our production methods preserve ancient craft traditions that are integral to local cultures.

Ethical Metals

We use at least 50% post-industrial recycled silver in our current designs and we're actively working to develop local sources for 100% recycled silver.

Ethical Stones

Though it's challenging to trace the origin of any stone, we do our best to source from the most ethical suppliers we can find. All our diamonds are Kimberly compliant, and we've begun introducing verifiably responsible gemstones in some of our collections. For details, read the stone information provided with each collection.

The Fair Trade Goal

No Certified Fair Trade standards currently exist for our industry, but we're partnering with our colleagues to establish one for gold and diamonds. Eventually, we'd like to see Certified Fair Trade standards for all precious metals and gemstones — a long-term goal that will surely transform our industry.
